Committees

Executive Committee

The ICMIF Executive Committee, elected by the Board, meets twice a year. It currently has representation from Canada, Belgium, France, Japan, Kenya, The Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, UK and USA.

The Executive Committee acts as the audit, nomination, remuneration, governance and membership committees.

Central purpose

The Executive Committee has the following specific remits:

  • To exercise powers of the Board of Directors that it can legally address between Board meetings on matters that cannot wait until the next Board meeting.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to management on planning, financial and operational issues.
  • Responsibility for the governance of ICMIF.
  • Approval of changes in the ICMIF membership.
  • Act as the Remuneration Committee on matters related to compensation of the Chief Executive.

Intelligence Committee

The Intelligence Committee is a sub-committee of the ICMIF Board of Directors, established in order to guide ICMIF’s networking and knowledge activities which, in turn, enhance the competitive advantage of member organizations by:

  1. providing members with strategic intelligence and research on current and emerging issues;
  2. establishing and maintaining a networking capability for members to access and leverage the experience and capabilities of other members;
  3. gathering and broadly disseminating best practice methodologies on business and governance matters; and
  4. providing input and guidance to the intelligence services of ICMIF.

Reinsurance Committee

The Reinsurance Committee is a committee approved by the ICMIF Board to define and guide the reinsurance activities of the Federation and to provide a framework to enable ICMIF member organizations to cooperate in respect of reinsurance activities.

ICMIF/Americas Regional Board

ICMIF/Americas has its regional office in Washington DC and the association represents 67 cooperative and mutual insurers in 20 countries throughout North, Central and South America and the Caribbean with over USD 24.6 billion in premium income. Collectively ICMIF members in the Americas region represent over 1500 mutual and cooperative insurers.

AOA (Asia and Oceania Association) Regional Board

The Asia and Oceania Association (AOA) was established to promote mutual friendship and exchange of information among ICMIF members in the Asia and Oceania region in 1984. Their seminars and conferences provide networking opportunities on a regional basis.
