The 2020 Meeting of Reinsurance Officials, which was due to have been held in Helsinki (Finland) from 9-12 June, has been postponed to 8-11 June 2021 due to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. The conference in 2021 will be hosted by ICMIF member LocalTapiola (our original host for 2020). A dedicated MORO website will open early in 2021 for more detailed information on the event and for registrations.
MORO stands for Meeting of Reinsurance Officials and is a unique, global gathering of reinsurance professionals from the mutual and cooperative sector that meets every two years. It is an outstanding opportunity to share reinsurance knowledge and discuss issues of common interest with your peers from around the world in a collaborative and supportive environment. The three day event includes high level presentations, discussion panels, breakout sessions and one-to-one meetings, with a unique focus on how reinsurance issues affect mutual and cooperative insurers.

Information for those who had already registered for the ICMIF Meeting of Reinsurance Officials in 2020 prior to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic
After extensive deliberation and in consultation with our host LocalTapiola and the ICMIF Reinsurance Committee, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Meeting of Reinsurance Officials in Finland, which had been scheduled for June 2020, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID 19).
While we cannot predict exactly how the situation with the coronavirus will unfold, we do know that it continues to affect major cities and communities around the world; many organisations and even countries have imposed travel bans; and the UK government’s current guidelines are everyone should avoid "non-essential" travel and contact with others. We therefore believe that the precautionary step of postponing the June 2020 MORO in Helsinki until the following year is in the best interests of our delegates; LocalTapiola and their staff; ICMIF staff and partner organisations.
If you have already paid the fees to attend the MORO in June then we are happy to either offer you a full refund of these fees or if you wish to simply postpone your attendance then we can transfer those fees to the MORO taking place in June 2021. Please let us know your preference and we will act accordingly and reply to you to confirm next steps.
If you have not yet paid the fees for the June 2020 event but would like us to transfer your registration to the rescheduled MORO in June 2021 please let us know and we will make a note of this and communicate with you again nearer to the postponed event. If you wish to cancel your registration altogether please just let us know.
If you have already booked accommodation at the conference hotel please ensure you cancel your bedroom reservation. To do so, you will need to contact the hotel directly by phone on +358 20 1234 703 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need to visit the hotel website, please click here.
We sincerely regret the disappointment this may cause but the safety of our members is paramount. If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to reply to this email or to contact our Events Team.
Don't forget, ICMIF members have exclusive access to virtual learning through our webinars. They are free to attend and a number of them are already planned for the forthcoming months. They are a good source of information on key topics for the mutual/cooperative insurance sector.
Please also note that we had an outstanding agenda in place for the MORO, with an excellent line-up of speakers. Now that we are unable to meet face-to-face, we are working with those speakers to bring some of the planned MORO agenda topics to you as a series of webinars. Our hope is that this will culminate in daily webinars during what would have been MORO week, so please try to keep 8-12 June 2020 free in your diaries. We will send you more information about the reinsurance webinar programme in the coming weeks.
