The 2020 Meeting of Reinsurance Officials, which was due to have been held in Helsinki (Finland) from 9-12 June, has been postponed to 8-11 June 2021 due to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. The conference in 2021 will be hosted by ICMIF member LocalTapiola (our original host for 2020). A dedicated MORO website will open early in 2021 for more detailed information on the event and for registrations.

MORO stands for Meeting of Reinsurance Officials and is a unique, global gathering of reinsurance professionals from the mutual and cooperative sector that meets every two years. It is an outstanding opportunity to share reinsurance knowledge and discuss issues of common interest with your peers from around the world in a collaborative and supportive environment. The three day event includes high level presentations, discussion panels, breakout sessions and one-to-one meetings, with a unique focus on how reinsurance issues affect mutual and cooperative insurers.

MORO Series of reinsurance webinars

8-12 June 2020

Following the postponement of the Meeting of Reinsurance Officials (MORO) to 2021, we felt that some of the excellent topics we had planned for the original MORO 2020 agenda couldn’t wait that long so we have decided to deliver them virtually instead.

We are therefore delighted to invite our members to attend a series of exclusive ICMIF reinsurance webinars that will take place daily during what would have been the week of MORO, 8-12 June 2020.

The webinars will run from 14:00 to 15:00 BST (UK time) each day unless otherwise stated.

The full agenda and speakers will be confirmed in the coming weeks, but we are planning to include the following topics:

  • Current state of the reinsurance market (panel involving cedant, reinsurer, broker and rating agency)
  • Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the (re)insurance industry
  • Current and future trends in cyber (re)insurance
  • Catastrophe modelling: how well do they represent the past, the present and the future?
  • Emerging risks and opportunities for innovation

ICMIF member simply need to register once for the reinsurance webinar series and then they will have access to the entire week of reinsurance webinars. If people are unable to attend some or even all the webinars as they happen then they will also receive the recordings so they can watch them later. This invitation is open to all employees at our member organisations, not just those that would normally have attended the MORO Conference.

Don't forget, ICMIF members have exclusive access to virtual learning through all our ICMIF webinars. They are free to attend and a number of them are already planned for the forthcoming months. They are a good source of information on key topics for the mutual/cooperative insurance sector.
