ICMIF can provide opportunities for individuals from its member organizations to access a wealth of resources and experiences from other members around the globe through its International Secondment Programme. Through our extensive knowledge of our members, we are able to facilitate a range of development opportunities ranging from short, educational visits to longer, project-based assignments. This includes the opportunity to get involved with the technical assistance side of our 5-5-5 project.
Unlike some training programmes, the immersion into another organization's working environment as part of a secondment programme goes beyond the realms of any training course. Having the opportunity to experience the culture, working practices and behaviours over an extended period of time creates an experience which has a lasting effect that can benefit all parties involved. Once the learning objectives have been clearly identified, we will seek to match members with each other that we feel are best able to work together to achieve those objectives. Once the introduction has been made, the detail of the placement will be agreed directly between the members involved but with the ongoing assistance of ICMIF as required.
ICMIF works with its member companies to identify which individuals are suitable for a secondment. This can be employees on structured development programmes or long standing managers and executives who will benefit from the fresh challenges and different ways of working that they will encounter at the host organization. As well as the developmental benefits, secondment can also be used as an employee retention strategy with members highlighting the value of secondment in helping to inspire, motivate and ultimately keep their key employees.
