Last week, ICMIF member Folksam (Sweden) invested SEK 2.5 billion (USD 260 million) in a green bond issued by Kommuninvest. This brings the total amount invested in Green Bonds by Folksam Group to SEK 30 billion (USD 3.1 billion), making it one of the leading insurers in terms of green bond investments.

For the second time, ICMIF member Securian Financial (USA) was named to Fortune’s annual ranking of America’s largest companies, listed at 455.

In response to the outbreak of Covid-19, ICMIF member Sancor Seguros (Argentina) has developed two new products to respond to the protection needs arising from the situation, which have additional coverage and benefits.

The new options are:

HOME OFFICE: a product offering cover for personal accidents, 24 hours a day, and accidental damage to technological work equipment (for individuals and companies). Cover is offered also for breakage, damage or theft of a PC/laptop; a subsidy in the event of a death; and additional coverage for bone fractures suffered by members of the policyholder’s immediate family.

Dutch ICMIF member Achmea yesterday announced the issuance of a new senior bond. This bond will be used to refinance a senior unsecured bond of EUR 750 million that matures in November 2020. Achmea published its annual figures on 12 March and reported a solvency ratio of 219% and liquidity of EUR 732 million. In the light of the global Covid-19-pandemic, Achmea confirmed that its Q1 2020 capital and liquidity positions are robust and that the solvency ratio is substantially above target levels. Earlier in the Covid-19 pandemic we reported on the ways in which ICMIF member Climbs Life and General Insurance Cooperative in the Philippines was supporting members during the crisis.

This included, on 11 March, setting up a Covid-19 taskforce to create a Crisis Management Plan and Crisis Communications Plan.
