Manchester, UK, Tuesday 13 June 2017: Mutual and cooperative insurers wrote a record EUR 406 billion (USD 453.8 billion) in premiums in 2015 and claimed more than 31% of the total insurance market in Europe, according to a report published today by the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF).

The Market InSights: Europe 2015 report, was launched by ICMIF’s European association, the Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe (AMICE), at its Annual General Meeting in Brussels last week.

Manchester, UK, Thursday 25 May 2017: Shaun Tarbuck, Chief Executive of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) yesterday addressed the Risk Transfer and Insurance for Resilience Working Session at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (Global Platform) in Cancun, Mexico. Both the Sendai Agreement and the 2030 Agenda, he said, demanded greater collaboration among stakeholders and provided the insurance sector with a new impetus to help balance the practice of post-disaster financing with increased focus on disaster risk reduction.

Recent research carried out by the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) on gender diversity at board, CEO and senior management level demonstrates that cooperative and mutual insurers – and particularly ICMIF member organisations – are leading the way in diversity.
