(IC) meeting in Espoo (Helsinki, Finland) which will take place 8-9 November 2018, members of the Committee have been encouraged to bring a younger colleague with them to join the strategic discussions on current issues and emerging trends impacting the cooperative and mutual insurance industry worldwide.
The ICMIF Intelligence Committee is a sub-committee of the ICMIF Board of Directors, established in order to guide ICMIF’s networking and knowledge activities. The Committee, which is made up of senior executives from 26 member organisations, acts as a network to leverage the experiences and capabilities of its members through the sharing of strategic intelligence and research and best practice methodologies on innovation, technology, sustainability and other emerging issues.
Whilst in Finland, the ICMIF will also meet for a face-to-face meeting involving both members of the YLF and other young representatives from ICMIF member companies who will accompany their more senior colleagues attending the IC. The plan for the YLF meeting is to continue their work investigating the most important issues which are impacting the younger generation at member companies and look at how we can deliver continual learning opportunities to the growing network of young professionals within the ICMIF membership; including those who attended the at London’s Biennial Conference and those who participated in some of the recent Young Leader .
Commenting on the November meetings, Ben Telfer, Vice-President, Business Intelligence, said “We are excited to be able to provide this unique development opportunity to these young professionals. In Helsinki, they will have the chance to meet and network with some of the most knowledgeable and innovative minds in our sector and learn more about the wider strategic issues impacting the global insurance ecosystem. It is also hoped that they will be able to bring a different perspective to the meeting’s discussion topics, especially around driving innovation and improving customer experience.”
Ben added: “This is the second time the IC has invited younger representatives to join a meeting, after first doing so at the Copenhagen meeting in November 2016. This meeting was the catalyst for ICMIF starting to run various Young Leader activities, directly responding to a common challenge of our members in developing and retaining the best young talent. In 2016, we had eight younger colleagues join the IC meeting - who became the - and we are expecting 12 young leaders to join us in Helsinki”.
The ICMIF Young Leaders Forum is a network of young professionals (generally aged between 20 and 35 years old) at ICMIF member companies who have been identified by their seniors as strong candidates to become future leaders within their organisations. The Forum focuses on the professional and personal development of its members, as well as providing added value to discussions of the Intelligence Committee and its outputs to the wider ICMIF membership.
