ICMIF member Länsförsäkringar is the only insurance company to be listed as one of Sweden's 100 most attractive employers for young professionals in a recent survey. The Swedish mutual insurer was ranked 35th overall in the Young Professional Attraction Index 2020 survey, which maps what appeals and attracts young people in their choice of employer. Länsförsäkringar was also ranked as the 9th employer of choice for economists in the survey.
The survey, conducted by Academic Works, in collaboration with Kantar Sifo, was based on the answers of 6,000 young professionals - students and academics at the beginning of their careers. The annual survey was conducted for the sixth year in a row, with the purpose of helping companies become better at attracting and developing tomorrow's workforce.
In the report, Länsförsäkringar was recognised for its good corporate culture, values and climate goals. The survey respondents considered it to be a safe workplace, due to its size and breadth, and would offer good professional development and career opportunities.
Research published earlier this year from ICMIF found that mutual and cooperative insurers like Länsförsäkringar, which are sustainable, socially responsible and high-performing businesses, are endowed with the characteristics that attract and retain young talent.
The report Strategic InSights: The next generation of mutual talent, includes a summary of responses provided by 23 ICMIF member organisations around the world and describes a wide range of initiatives and programmes which help to position the mutual/cooperative model as unique and as “employers of choice” for the younger generation.
This is the first report to be written by a group of young professionals all of whom are members of the ICMIF Young Leaders Forum (YLF). In the report, the main findings of a comprehensive study on the best ways that young employees can be attracted, developed and retained by cooperative/mutual insurance companies are outlined.
During the recent ICMIF Sustainable Investment Leaders webinar series, Ann Sommer, Member of the Management Board of Länsförsäkringar and former CEO of Länsförsäkringar Sak, highlighted some of the organisation’s sustainability efforts and work to tackle climate change. Ann showcased the work being done to contribute towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how addressing this brings to life the mutual value proposition across the business. A recording of this webinar, Using the SDGs in business strategy for mutual value creation, can be accessed by all ICMIF members.
