The International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) and Blue Marble Microinsurance have today announced that the first Insurance Development Forum (IDF) Microinsurance Working Group Seminar will be held on Monday 16 October 2017 in London (UK). The Seminar will take place immediately before the ICMIF Biennial Conference 2017 which runs from Tuesday 17 to Friday 20 October.
During the meeting participants will hear about the first-hand experiences of people who are working in communities vulnerable to natural disasters and helping these communities to devise and build strategies which will help them to build resilience. Case studies will be presented on life, health, agriculture and weather-related microinsurance projects. Seminar participants will also join round-table discussions on strategies to help achieve the G7 target of extending insurance to 100 million low-income individuals currently vulnerable to natural disasters.
The Seminar is a “by invitation only” event and all ICMIF member organisations have been invited to send delegates to attend. It is hoped that delegates attending the Biennial Conference will also attend the IDF Microinsurance Working Group Seminar. Both events will take place at the Hilton London Bankside hotel. Places are limited and ICMIF members can register to attend here.
The IDF Microinsurance Working Group is co-chaired by Shaun Tarbuck, CEO, ICMIF and Joan Lamm-Tennant, CEO, Blue Marble. Ms Joan Lamm-Tennant will be Master of Ceremony for the Seminar.
