Focusing on the solutions rather than the technicalities, this webinar will provide members with a better understanding on how blockchain, distributed ledger technology and “smart contracts” will transform insurance in the future. Through use case examples, Willis Towers Watson’s senior economist Magda Ramada Sarasola will highlight blockchain’s potential impact on existing business models and practices, looking at specific operational, analytic and, ultimately, business-defining opportunities and threats it might bring. Magda will also look at distributed insurance use cases stemming from the blockchain native ecosystem and discuss autonomous risk sharing protocols and the feasibility of smart-contract-coded mutuals. She will also explain how, for insurers, blockchain is more relevant than other anticipated InsurTech developments due to its link to key global trends affecting the nature and business of risk.
