ICMIF members reported USD 238 billion in premium income in 2024

The International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) has published its ICMIF Members: Key Statistics Report 2025, revealing that its members achieved a combined USD 238 billion in premium income in 2024. The data, compiled from 220 member organisations across 54 countries, also shows total assets of USD 1.75 trillion held across the membership.

In total, ICMIF member companies employed more than 221,000 people worldwide and served over 234 million members and policyholders during 2024.

Key figures from the report:

  • USD 238 billion in premium income (2023: 226 billion)
  • USD 1.75 trillion in total assets (2023: 1.64 trillion)
  • 221,929 people employed by member organisations (2023: 220,714)
  • 234 million members/policyholders served (2023: 233 million)

ICMIF members wrote USD 238 billion in insurance premiums during 2024, with non-life insurance representing 57% (USD 136 billion) and life insurance accounting for 43% (USD 102 billion).

ICMIF Chief Executive Officer Liz Green said: “This year’s ICMIF Members: Key Statistics Report highlights another period of strong growth for our global network. Across every key measure — from total premiums and member policyholders to staff employed, assets and investments — our members have achieved impressive increases.

“This collective success underlines the continued strength and resilience of the mutual and cooperative model, demonstrating how it delivers sustainable economic growth while supporting communities and people around the world.”

The ICMIF Members: Key Statistics Report 2025 also includes analyses of ICMIF members by legal structure, region, and affinity group, alongside a breakdown of premiums by product type and distribution channel. It features a full ranking of ICMIF members by premium income for 2024.
