The ICMIF Americas Conference is an invaluable opportunity for ICMIF members across the Americas to meet and exchange knowledge and best practice on how to deliver insurance to consumers in an ever-changing world. Members from all areas of the Americas attend but members from the rest of the global ICMIF membership may also participate. The event takes place every two years.
Like any other ICMIF conference, the ICMIF Americas Conference is a source of original ideas which lead to better business performance; offering key insights into the trends that are shaping the future of the insurance industry; and providing a full and clear understanding of the powerful role that the mutual/cooperative sector can play in redesigning insurance. All this but with the added bonus of a regional focus with local experts and member speakers.
Rooted resilience
Insurance is at the heart of solutions for the societal issues of today and tomorrow, providing financial protection, stability and resilience against risks that affect individuals, communities and economies.
In the midst of the current economic, environmental or social disruption, our theme for this year’s Conference Rooted resilience will consider the ways our members demonstrate the capacity to endure, withstand and adapt to ever changing conditions, while continuing to innovate and finding ways to be more relevant to their member- policyholders. In other words, staying true to their values and their purpose of ensuring the long-term sustainability of their businesses and also the security of their members.
The ICMIF Americas Conference offers the following benefits:

The agenda will be built in a way that facts or diagnosis are followed by suggested solutions or adequate responses.
We firmly believe that our Conference will enable the cooperative and mutual insurance sector to position itself as a key player in a sustainable and resilient future, which is especially relevant during the 2025 UN International Year of Cooperatives.
ICMIF Americas is the regional association of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF). Founded in 1979 by ICMIF with 11 member organisations in three countries, today, ICMIF Americas represents 74 member organisations in 19 countries throughout North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
Collectively, ICMIF Americas members represent USD 46 billion in insurance premiums and hold USD 258 billion in total assets (2024 figures). ICMIF Americas member organisations employ a total of 55,000 people and serve 54 million members/policyholders across the region.
Members of the ICMIF Americas regional association convene every two years at the ICMIF Americas Conference. In 2023, 193 delegates from 61 companies in 14 countries gathered in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) for the 2023 ICMIF Americas Conference, hosted by Seguros Unimed. The theme of the 2023 Conference was Bridging the protection gaps, which focused on how ICMIF members engage in prevention and mitigation, sustainability, product innovation and cost efficiency as a way to leave no one behind.
