Equip your existing and emerging leaders with the tools and mindsets to help your organisation adapt to a changing world

ICMIF member organisations report that despite all the challenges of the pandemic, new ways have been found to create value for their member policyholders. At ICMIF, we have also sought to find new ways to support our members as we continue to adapt to the significant changes that are taking place in our insurance markets, workplaces and communities.

To satisfy demand from members, we began the process of creating a range of online learning and networking products in 2020 that people would normally only experience at our face-to-face events, such as the highly regarded ICMIF Advanced Management Course. The first transformation of an ICMIF learning product is the Mutual Leadership: Adapting to a Complex World online course which was successfully launched in 2020 and is now available to all ICMIF members.

“It is very difficult to recreate the same dynamic environment as in face-to-face courses, but you did an amazing job. I’m very happy with this course because the sessions were very interesting and dynamic, entirely different to other online courses I’ve taken.”

Those that took part in the 2020 courses praised the impact of the Mutual Leadership: Adapting to a Complex World course that features engaging, live, online presentations that translate insights from behavioural economics into easy to apply approaches for people. The tools transform the ways in which individuals and teams make sense of complex situations. The course provides extended discussion opportunities with peers from around the globe who are facing similar challenges expressed in different contexts.

Who should attend?

This course is for employees of cooperative and mutual insurers who are increasingly:

  • Leading others (formally and informally)
  • Tackling complex situations
  • Collaborating across cultures

Participants of the Mutual Leadership course will include a mix of technical insurance and non-technical people, reflecting the typical make-up of a mutual/cooperative insurer.

Participants must be comfortable holding strategic conversations in English.

Benefits of the course

Participants on the course will:

  • Learn the essential frameworks, mental models and tools that ICMIF members praise for transforming agility in complex situations
  • Explore the learning and current challenges with peers to personalise the insights and translate them into near-term value
  • Network with a global peer group to develop the habit of mutual support and collaboration
  • In addition to the above, you will also receive exclusive access to the MLC alumni group: MC2 (MC squared). See below for more information.

ICMIF will continue to run regular MC2 events for you and your peers in 2022. These events offer frequent opportunities for you to discuss the key challenges that you are facing at the time with your fellow MLC alumni through what others call peer to peer consulting and what we at ICMIF refer to as mutual consulting. There will certainly be many issues that you have in common and, we believe, that the bonds you will have already formed with other fellow MLC participants will allow for a free and productive discussion on these topics to provide you with new solutions for your organisation.

In addition to working with your own MLC group, you will be able to expand your new global network to include all ICMIF MLC alumni from different courses.

“The pre- and post-event materials were of excellent quality. I really loved the content and the delivery. The energy of the facilitator really came through.”
European participant, June course

“What I found so great was I learned something which I could use straight away. Within days I was able to change my team’s approach and get a better result.”
European participant, June course

“Though we are from different parts of the world, the problems we are facing are not that different and there is great value in talking with each other.”
African participant, June course

Course fee

Fee: GBP 1,000 per person.

“The learning journey has been an amazing one, the way the course was structured, the communication, the collaboration and networking opportunities you created for us. You apply all the principles that you are teaching us throughout the course, which is really good because you are embedding the knowledge while teaching us the theory.”
