An overview of the Young Leaders Forum
Recognising the significance of nurturing the next generation of leaders, ICMIF launched a virtual ICMIF Young Leaders initiative: the Young Leaders Forum (YLF).
The YLF is a way for emerging leaders to engage with industry issues, share experiences, and broaden their networks within the mutual/cooperative insurance community. It meets bi-monthly with the aim of providing a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and discussion on key issues in the mutual and cooperative insurance sector.
Each session comprises of presentations, Q&A, and breakout room discussions. These structured sessions are designed to facilitate conversation on the important topics in our industry.
Sessions typically run for one hour and are scheduled from 2:00pm to 3:00pm (UK time) via Microsoft Teams.
To ensure that our Forum sessions are relevant and engaging, we want to hear from you. Is there a theme or topic you would like to see or would be prepared to present on in a future Forum? If so, or you have any other suggestions, please send your ideas to [email protected].
Who should attend
The Young Leaders Forum is designed exclusively for Young Leaders from our member organisations and is open to all emerging and high potential professionals (generally aged up to 35 years old) at all levels of their career at ICMIF member companies.

“Participating in the Young Leaders Forum has been an enriching experience. Engaging in conversations with colleagues from around the world has provided me with diverse perspectives on important issues facing our industry today. It has provided a platform to exchange ideas, gain new insights, and connect with professionals in the mutual and cooperative insurance sector who are committed to driving positive change.
José R. López Lora, ERM Officer, Cooperativa de Seguros Multiples de Puerto Rico“The Young Leaders Forum gives me an international perspective and a broader understanding of the challenges faced by other ICMIF members in their respective countries. Even though we operate in different countries, we all face similar challenges, such as AI, ESG, and large-scale IT transformations. It's interesting to discuss these topics with other Young Leaders.”
Jens Smids, Advisor to the CEO – Corporate Office, P&V (Belgium)“The Young Leaders Forum offers a unique opportunity to network and share experiences with Young Leaders from around the world, resulting in an exchange of ideas and knowledge that drives our development in various areas. This allows us to discover new perspectives and approaches that can be applied to our own work contexts. The possibility to explore new opportunities in such a dynamic environment is an experience I greatly value.”
María Carla Sosa, Risk Analysis Inspector, Grupo Asegurador La Segunda (Argentina)“The best part of the Young Leaders Forum is connecting with other young professionals from around the world. Even though we're in different countries, we face similar challenges in our companies and at this stage of our careers. In the Forum, we discuss current topics, giving me valuable input for my daily work. I also enjoy it when I share something that helps others in their work—it's a truly rewarding experience.”
