DATE OF NEXT SESSION: Monday 21 September (3.00pm-4.00pm BST)
The next Reinsurance Forum will take place on Monday 21 September at 3pm (BST).
Our last Forum took place on Wednesday 18 March 2026. The topic was Current reinsurance market conditions and renewal dynamics.
With the 1/1 reinsurance renewals now complete, this session provided an opportunity to reflect on key outcomes and the challenges faced by reinsurers through renewal process. The session began with some introductory remarks by Ben Diaz-Clegg, Associate Director – Analytics at AM Best, who shared the key drivers of AM Best’s decision to revise their global reinsurance outlook from Positive to Stable. The recording of this session can be found on the ICMIF Knowledge Hub.

An overview of the Reinsurance Forum
Building on the success of our October 2024 pilot meeting, ICMIF relaunched the Reinsurance Forum as a regular event starting in 2025. This virtual forum provides reinsurance professionals in the mutual and cooperative sector with an invaluable opportunity to explore pressing issues, share insights, and discuss emerging trends in a collaborative and supportive virtual setting.
This platform complements in-person events such as the Meeting of Reinsurance Officials (MORO) and offers a space to engage in meaningful dialogue on current reinsurance challenges and opportunities throughout the year.
As a newly established forum, the format of each Reinsurance Forum session is designed to be flexible and responsive to members' interests and emerging industry trends. Sessions generally aim to provide:
- High-level market insights and presentations: Sessions may open with insights from industry events or presentations by members on key market trends, sharing perspectives on challenges like pricing, capacity, and evolving risks.
- Breakout discussions for in-depth knowledge exchange: Small-group breakout discussions will allow members to engage more closely, sharing experiences, challenges, and strategies with their peers in an open, collaborative setting.
This flexible structure is intended to support practical knowledge-sharing and offer a space for members to learn from each other’s experiences, adapt to new challenges, and connect meaningfully across regions.
Discussions are responsive to current industry trends and member interests, focusing on critical issues affecting reinsurance professionals in the mutual and cooperative sector. Topics are selected to be practical, timely, and actionable. Examples could include:
- Market trends impacting reinsurance pricing and capacity
- Strategies for managing climate risk in reinsurance
- Navigating regulatory challenges in global and regional markets
- Approaches for balancing portfolios and negotiating with reinsurers
- Inflation and other macroeconomic pressures affecting risk appetite
- The evolving landscape of global reinsurance and regional variations
Sessions typically run for one hour and are scheduled from 3:00pm to 4:00pm (UK time) via Microsoft Teams.
In addition to these virtual meetings, in 2025 ICMIF members had the opportunity to connect in person at the MORO conference in Helsinki, Finland, 3-5 June 2025, hosted by LocalTapiola. ICMIF members can watch the videos of the Conference sessions at MORO on the ICMIF Knowledge Hub.

The Reinsurance Forum is open to reinsurance professionals in the mutual and cooperative insurance sector, as well as any ICMIF members interested in reinsurance market dynamics.
