ICMIF AI Summit 2026

19 May 2026, London (UK)

ICMIF’s first AI Summit took place on 19 May 2026 in London (UK)

The inaugural ICMIF AI Summit was held on 19 May 2026 in London (UK), hosted by global technology leader and ICMIF Supporting Member Microsoft.

This one-day event aimed to help ICMIF member organisations move the conversation on AI from ambition to practical, measurable outcomes.

Our agenda included AI leaders and specialists and is focused on how members can turn AI strategy into real impact, prioritising outcomes at scale, exploring how AI,  including generative and agentic AI, is reshaping operations, customer experience, and long-term value for mutual and cooperative insurers, rather than technology alone. Participants heard real-world use cases from fellow ICMIF members, gain insights tailored to mutual-specific challenges, and take part in trusted peer exchanges through small-group discussions and networking. With adoption accelerating across ICMIF members at different stages, the agenda was structured to include smaller, group discussions, matching participants into peer cohorts for in-depth and trusted exchanges on shared challenges, opportunities, and strategic priorities.

Key topics:

  • From AI ambition to business impact – how mutual and cooperative insurers can scale AI from pilots to organisation-wide adoption to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Driving operational efficiency and member value – using generative and agentic AI to streamline processes, support advisors and enhance customer and member engagement.
  • AI in action across the insurance value chain – real-world case studies from mutual insurers on implementing AI in underwriting, claims, servicing, distribution and risk management.
  • Collaboration and capability building across the mutual sector – exploring how ICMIF members can share insights, resources and partnerships to accelerate responsible AI adoption.

NEW: Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) required for travel to the UK

Please note, the UK government has introduced electronic travel authorisation (ETA) for visitors who pass through the UK border, including people from the USA, Canada, and Australia. All eligible non-European visitors must apply for an ETA to travel to the UK.

Eligible Europeans also need to apply for the ETA in order to travel to the UK. All visitors to the UK who do not need a visa for short stays and who do not already have a UK immigration status will need an ETA.

Eligible visitors should apply for their ETA through the UK ETA smartphone app, which is quick and simple to use and enables most applicants to receive a decision in hours, however, general advice says try to allow three working days. Visitors can also apply on the GOV.UK website if they do not have access to a smartphone.
