Swedish ICMIF member Afa Försäkring is supporting the country’s national vocational team (pictured above) as it prepares for the European Vocational Championships, taking place 9–13 September in Herning, Denmark.
Afa Försäkring aims to make everyday life safer in terms of people’s professional and work environment. Its insurances are part of Sweden’s collective agreements and provide financial support in the event of illness, occupational injury, lack of work, death and parental leave. The organisation also funds research and supports initiatives that prevent occupational injuries and sick leave, contributing to a more sustainable working life. Afa Försäkring is owned by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions (PTK).
The 23-member team of young professionals will compete across a range of disciplines and variety of types of work, with Afa Försäkring serving as one of the main sponsors of the championships. The company joined the team’s recent kick-off camp at Bosön, where the Swedish competitors trained and shared their ambitions for the championships.
Afa Försäkring’s Communications Director, Johan Ljungqvist, emphasised his organisation’s role in protecting 5.3 million employees across Sweden through collectively agreed insurance, which provides support in cases such as illness, occupational injury, unemployment, and parental leave. He also highlighted the importance of systematic work environment management and his organisation’s long-standing investment in research and initiatives that promote healthier, safer workplaces in Sweden.
“Through our collaboration with the national vocational team and WorldSkills Sweden, we meet some of the most professional young people in their industries,” said Ljungqvist. “They are not only skilled professionals, but also great role models for many when it comes to the work environment.”
Ljungqvist will represent Afa Försäkring at the championships in Denmark this September, where he will support the Swedish team in its bid for European success.
