AM Best, a Supporting Member of ICMIF, will hold its annual national insurance market briefings for Germany and France in March 2026, bringing together industry participants to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing (re)insurers today.

The German briefings will take place in Munich on 3 March and Cologne on 4 March 2026. In Paris, AM Best will host its French market briefing on Tuesday 10 March 2026.

Across both events, AM Best analysts will focus on three major themes shaping the current insurance landscape: the global reinsurance market, the tension between globalisation and protectionism, and the latest developments in IFRS 17.

Global reinsurance in a changing risk environment

AM Best will provide perspectives on the global reinsurance outlook, including insights into the January 1, 2026 renewals and developments in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market. These discussions will be particularly relevant for mutual insurers navigating capacity, pricing, and risk transfer decisions in an increasingly complex environment.

Globalisation versus protectionism

A central topic at both briefings will be the growing tension between globalisation and protectionism. Discussions will explore the current risk landscape, emerging protectionist strategies, and the associated threats and opportunities for insurers. AM Best will also consider how these trends may influence ratings.

Latest observations on IFRS 17

As insurers continue to embed IFRS 17 into their reporting and decision-making processes, AM Best will share its latest observations on the standard’s implementation and impact.

French market briefing – industry perspectives

In Paris, the event will open with a keynote presentation from Florence Lustman, President of France Assureurs, providing a market perspective ahead of AM Best’s analytical sessions. As with the German briefings, discussions will cover European reinsurance trends, globalisation versus protectionism, and IFRS 17 developments, alongside other current industry topics.

Both events will conclude with opportunities for networking, allowing participants to exchange views and build connections with AM Best analysts and peers from across the sector.

These briefings underline AM Best’s ongoing engagement with European insurance markets and provide a valuable forum for insurers – including ICMIF members – to deepen their understanding of the economic, regulatory, and risk trends influencing their businesses.
