IPB guaranteed Irish - July 202

ICMIF member IPB Insurance has been awarded Guaranteed Irish accreditation, recognising the mutual insurer’s long-standing contribution to Ireland’s economy, local communities and employment.

Guaranteed Irish is one of Ireland’s most recognised business accreditations. It is awarded to organisations that demonstrate a measurable commitment to supporting jobs, strengthening communities and contributing positively to the Irish economy. For a mutual insurer such as IPB Insurance, whose purpose extends beyond financial performance to delivering long-term value for members and society, the accreditation reflects values that have been central to the organisation for almost a century.

As Ireland’s only indigenous mutual general insurer, IPB Insurance has been providing insurance and risk management solutions to local authorities, public sector organisations and other institutions across Ireland for nearly 100 years. Alongside its core business, the mutual insurer is committed to creating lasting social value through initiatives that strengthen local communities and support environmental sustainability.

One example is the IPB Insurance & Local Authorities Community Fund (LEAF). Launched earlier this year, the fund is investing more than EUR 3 million in environmental enhancement, biodiversity and climate action projects across Ireland. Delivered in partnership with all 31 local authorities, LEAF supports Tidy Towns groups, residents’ associations and community organisations to deliver practical projects that enhance the places where people live and work.

Commenting on the accreditation, John Kearns (pictured far right), CEO of IPB Insurance, said: We are delighted to receive our Guaranteed Irish accreditation. As Ireland’s only indigenous mutual insurance company, founded by and for local authorities and public bodies almost 100 years ago, this recognition reflects our deep roots in Irish communities and our enduring commitment to serving them.

“Achieving Guaranteed Irish accreditation is a natural fit for IPB Insurance. It reflects who we are, what we stand for and our commitment to supporting Ireland’s people, communities and economy. We are proud to wear the Guaranteed Irish symbol as we continue to deliver on our purpose of working to make a difference.”

By achieving Guaranteed Irish accreditation, IPB Insurance joins a network of more than 2,500 organisations recognised for their contribution to Ireland’s economic and social wellbeing, reinforcing the mutual insurer’s purpose-led approach and commitment to creating long-term value for the communities it serves.

IPB Insurance also recently highlighted its long-standing partnership with Age Friendly Ireland, marking its continued support for initiatives that promote inclusive, age-friendly communities across the country. This announcement, shared in late June, reflects the mutual insurer’s ongoing commitment to working with local authorities and community partners to deliver practical, people-focused impact. It also forms part of IPB Insurance’s centenary year in 2026, a milestone that is being marked through a range of initiatives celebrating the organisation’s 100-year legacy of service to Ireland’s local authorities and the communities they support.
