ICMIF member Seguros Lagun Aro has been recognised as Spain’s leading motor insurer in the 2026 edition of Forbes magazine’s World’s Best Insurance Companies ranking, reflecting the cooperative insurer’s continued focus on delivering high-quality service and value for its member policyholders.

Compiled by Forbes in partnership with Statista, the international ranking is based on feedback from more than 45,000 insurance customers across 13 countries with recent experience of home, motor or life insurance. The assessment considers a range of factors including customer service, claims handling, transparency, advice, financial strength, innovation and value for money.

The recognition highlights Seguros Lagun Aro’s commitment to providing an excellent customer experience, with the insurer crediting the achievement to the collective efforts of its employees and wider service network, including claims specialists, repair partners, roadside assistance providers, intermediaries and other collaborators who support policyholders every day.

The insurer said the recognition reinforces its commitment to continuous improvement and to maintaining the high standards of service expected by customers in an increasingly competitive market.

The recognition comes during a period of positive momentum for Seguros Lagun Aro. At the end of 2025, the insurer had surpassed 300,000 customers and reported total premium income of EUR 202.3 million, supported by strong performance in its motor and home insurance portfolios and continued growth in products designed for younger customers and emerging mobility needs.

Earlier this year, Seguros Lagun Aro also appointed María José Rodríguez Villar as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Pablo Mongelos following his retirement after two decades leading the insurer’s growth and development. Rodríguez Villar, who joined the role on 1 April, brings extensive experience in risk management and has previously served on the Boards of Seguros Lagun Aro and Seguros Lagun Aro Vida, as well as their Risk, Actuarial and Audit Committees.

ICMIF congratulates Seguros Lagun Aro on this recognition and wishes María José Rodríguez Villar every success as she leads the organisation through the next stage of its development.
