ICMIF member Folksam has announced the extension and expansion of its collaboration with Swedish parasport. The collaboration is sometimes referred to as Swedish sport’s longest sponsorship because Folksam was a key supporter of the Swedish Parasport Federation when it was founded over 50 years ago. In a recent announcement, Folksam says it will consolidate its proud position as the main sponsor and also deepen the collaboration over the next four years.
Folksam was already the main partner of the Swedish Paralympic Committee and the Swedish Parasport Federation. Now it will also become a partner for the Special Olympics Sweden, an activity within Parasport Sweden that works to create better sports and health for people with intellectual disabilities.
“We are proud of our extensive and in-depth collaboration with Parasport Sweden, which promotes inclusion, public health and equal opportunities in society for all. By now also becoming a partner of the Special Olympics, we look forward to continuing to contribute to more people having the opportunity to discover the joy and community that parasport can offer,” says Ylva Wessén, Folksam’s President and CEO and also a Vice-Chair on the ICMIF Board of Directors.
This means that Folksam is now involved in all activities organised by Parasport Sweden; The Swedish Parasport Federation, the Swedish Paralympic Committee and Special Olympics Sweden.
“Folksam’s commitment to all our target groups, from grass roots level to elite, is enormous. The partnership is extensive and really makes a difference to our entire business. It is a privilege to continue to develop Swedish parasport together, says Bo Sköld, Secretary General of Parasport Sweden.
Special Olympics Sweden is an activity that has grown rapidly in recent years, largely thanks to increased involvement from the business community.
“We are incredibly happy that Folksam also supports Special Olympics Sweden. With their support, we will have the opportunity to take the next step in developing the business, not least by building a health programme for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The partnership will be an important piece of the puzzle to get more people with intellectual disabilities moving and contribute to a more socially sustainable society,” says Linnéa Björndahl, National Director Special Olympics Sweden.
The new cooperation agreement is valid for four years and extends through 2028.
