ICMIF will hold its first-ever AI Summit on 19 May 2026 in London, bringing together mutual and cooperative insurers to explore the strategic and practical implications of artificial intelligence for the sector.
Hosted at Microsoft’s Paddington offices and delivered in collaboration with the global technology company – one of ICMIF’s newest Supporting Members – the one-day event will focus on turning AI strategy into real impact. The Summit will prioritise outcomes at scale, examining how AI is reshaping operations, customer experience, and long-term value for mutual and cooperative insurers and their member-policyholders.
Under the theme, “From intent to outcome: The strategic AI agenda for mutual/cooperative insurers”, the agenda will explore how members are approaching the transformative potential of AI, including generative and agentic AI, to modernise operations, enhance member experiences, and strengthen the resilience of the mutual model. Sessions will consider the integration of AI across underwriting, claims, service, distribution, and risk management, alongside the importance of ethical governance and human oversight.
Participants will also have the opportunity to learn from real-world AI use cases shared by fellow ICMIF members and engage in trusted peer exchange through small-group discussions and networking.
Commenting on the launch of the Summit, ICMIF CEO Liz Green said: “This inaugural ICMIF AI Summit is a unique opportunity for our members to come together and collectively navigate one of the most significant technological shifts of our time. AI has the potential to help mutual and cooperative insurers operate more efficiently, serve their members better, and ultimately deliver greater value to policyholders, while staying true to their values. We are also delighted to be collaborating with Microsoft as a Supporting Member for this important event, bringing their expertise and insights into our mutual community.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with ICMIF on this inaugural AI Summit, focused on turning ambition into meaningful outcomes. At Microsoft, we see responsible, human‑centred AI as a key enabler for mutuals to strengthen trust, modernise operations, and build long‑term resilience,” said Mona Chitalia, Managing Director, Industry Advisory | Worldwide Financial Services, Microsoft.
