New Zealand ICMIF member FMG has been awarded the 2020 Consumer NZ People’s Choice Award for House, Car and Contents’ insurance.

FMG’s Chief Client Officer, Andrea Brunner says the FMG team are extremely proud at being recognised by those people who participated in the 2020 Consumer NZ survey, particularly given the challenges faced this year.

“Striving to deliver the best service is a priority for us, and the entire FMG team did its utmost to make sure that even with the challenges of 2020, the Mutual’s members and clients came first. On behalf of the entire FMG team, thank you for this acknowledgment.”

FMG, a rural mutual insurer, is the joint winner with another New Zealand-owned mutual insurer and ICMIF member, MAS; along with AA Insurance. MAS were also recognised in the life insurance category.

Ms Brunner says FMG views awards as a way the Mutual validates its core purpose of giving rural New Zealand a better deal. “Awards are one way to make sure we strive to maintain the high standard of customer service, cover and industry knowledge that clients and members have grown to expect from FMG over the past 115 years.”

Consumer NZ’s insurance satisfaction survey for 2020 received responses from 4,700 people for car insurance, over 4,000 for house insurance, and 4,400 for contents insurance.

In September, FMG beat all other insurers in the New Zealand market to win two Canstar Most Satisfied Customers Awards 2020, for Car Insurance and Home and Contents Insurance. FMG was the only insurer to achieve a clean sweep of Five-Star ratings, scoring the prestigious rating for customer satisfaction in both categories.

FMG was started in 1905 by farmers for farmers and is 100% New Zealand owned by its rural clients. In the last 10 years the number of farmers with FMG has grown by 60%.
