The cooperative insurer and ICMIF member P&V Group (Belgium) and the Liberty Rider safety app for motorcyclists are celebrating five years of cooperation. In that time, four lives were saved and more than eight million kilometres ridden by motorbike riders have been made safer thanks to the use of the app.
A successful collaboration
The cooperative insurer P&V Group (through its brands Vivium and P&V) and the Liberty Rider app have been working together for five years to offer greater safety and riding pleasure to motorcyclists. The success of this collaboration is evident from the figures collected with each intervention after an accident and with each warning of a dangerous situation that the app sends out. Within a community of about 3000 motorcyclists who use the app and who have driven a total of eight million kilometres covered by the app, four motorcyclists have been saved, 50 accidents have been prevented and 45 emergency interventions have been carried out.
Priority for prevention
“Being an insurer is much more than just intervening in the event of damage,” said Pierre Creuven, Director of Business Development – Non-Life at P&V Group. “Our raison d’être goes much further and we want to be pioneers in the field of prevention. We therefore invest heavily in it and work together with safety specialists such as Liberty Rider. This partnership is quite unique: P&V Group is currently the only insurer in Belgium to offer this type of service throughout the rider’s insurance contract.”
Protection, fun and practical help
The partnership with Liberty Rider also makes it possible to capitalise on the pleasures associated with riding motorbikes and creating a real community of motorcyclists. They have access to services such as eCall which has fall and accident detection, automatic notification of the emergency services, GPS warning when approaching potentially dangerous places and the possibility to call for help with geolocation. In addition, the app can send text messages with real-time tracking of the motorcyclist. The app also provides access to guides for motorcycle routes and allows people to keep track of the maintenance of the motorcycle.
“For five years we have been working with P&V Group to our great satisfaction to make motorcycling safer,” says Emmanuel Petit, CEO of Liberty Rider. “More than eight million safe kilometres is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing our actions to further increase the safety and enjoyment of motorcyclists.”
Commercial activities for motorcyclists
In view of the good results, P&V Group and Liberty Rider announced they are extending their partnership. To celebrate, they organised a competition in the app for current and future customers throughout the month of March 2025, which offered the chance to win quality motorcycle accessories as prizes. From 1 March to 31 May 2025, there is also a promotion on motorcycle insurance.
