German ICMIF member R+V Versicherung has announced almost 600,000 customers of cooperative banks received a cashback on their insurance premiums. R+V’s cashback programme refunds up to ten percent of the insurance premiums paid back to customers. The prerequisite is that customers are a member of a cooperative bank and have concluded a Member Plus contract there. If a bank’s Member Plus community has a more favourable claims experience than expected, the insurer refunds money to them in the following year. On Cashback Day 2025, 10 March, R+V paid out a total of over EUR 19 million in contributions for 2024. This is 25% more than in the previous year, in which around EUR 16 million flowed back to customers.
740,000 cashback customers
R+V says the concept is winning over more and more members: The total number of customers participating in the programme has grown by around 6.5 percent to more than 740,000. Over 80% of them now receive some cashback. A refund is still available even if an individual customer has reported a claim, as long as their banking community has had a favourable claims experience overall. Because what counts, says R+V, is the result of the community. Each of 587 cooperative banks nationwide has a Member Plus community.
“Membership is the unique selling point of the cooperative banks,” says Jens Hasselbächer, Member of the Board of Management of the Customers & Sales department at R+V Versicherung. “Every single member benefits and feels the benefits of the community directly in their wallets. In addition, we are implementing the cooperative idea of ‘one for all, all for one’ together with the cooperative banks.”
Cooperation with the BVR
In order to get the cooperative banks even more on board, R+V is cooperating with the BVR (National Association of German Cooperative Banks) in the Member and Member Plus business. The aim is to give this business area even more visibility and commitment in the banks and to attract new customers and members to the bank.
Cashback for six insurance products and the R+V company health insurance fund
Money back is available for the four components of the R+V member private policy: household contents, residential buildings, liability and legal protection, as well as for the independent R+V member risk-accident policy and the R+V member motor vehicle policy. The R+V company health insurance fund is also involved: anyone who is a member of a cooperative bank and the R+V company health insurance fund at the same time and has not been admitted to hospital for a year will receive a cashback of EUR 60.
R+V’s cashback ambassador Enie van de Meiklokjes
Since 2023, the advertising ambassador of the Member Plus concept has been TV presenter Enie van de Meiklokjes, who can currently be seen as a baking expert in various TV formats in Germany. Over the past three years, she has firmly established herself as a member ambassador for R+V with a high recognition value.
