Seguros Unimed Super App - 500K downloads

One of Seguros Unimed’s main innovations delivered in 2020 was the cooperative healthcare provider’s Super App which has just reached a total of 500,000 downloads. “The platform, available for Android and IOS, has been available to our clients since August 2020”, says Fabio Leite Gastal, medical doctor and Strategy, Management & Innovation Director at ICMIF member Seguros Unimed in Brazil.

The country’s cooperative sector, made up of 6,828 undertakings and counting almost 19 million members (according to figures from the International Cooperative Alliance), is responsible for more than 4,000 of the downloads.

Why this success?

The Super App has a differentiated proposal that goes beyond the company’s usual relationship with the client. In the services part, it is possible to access general information on products, make requests, preview reimbursements and search the network and the plan’s digital ID card for member policyholders. The App also has a special section for Covid-19, with medical and dental tele-guidance and the possibility to schedule video consultations with specialists.

Anything else?

By downloading the app, it is also possible for people to make a digital purchase of products (such as life or home insurance and dental plans) and take care of health and wellbeing with a virtual coach and a personalised goal. All this in the palm of your hand.

How did it come about?

With a total of 168 features, the Super App was developed by Seguros Unimed’s digital innovation cell, Stormia, in partnership with Unio, an open API (application programming interface) part of Unimed. The app brings together all the services offered by the company in one place and is available on IOS and Android platforms.

The app was also recognised in the Brazilian Grow+ Innovation Awards 2020.

For member-only strategic content on the cooperative/mutual insurance sector, ICMIF members have exclusive access to a range of online resources through the ICMIF Knowledge Hub.
