ICMIF member Thrivent (USA) has received the 2024 World’s Most Ethical Companies honour from Ethisphere. Thrivent says this recognition highlights its commitment to business integrity through robust ethics, compliance, and governance programmes.

Thrivent has now been recognised for 13 consecutive years and is one of only six honorees in the financial services industry this year. In 2024, 136 honorees were recognised spanning 20 countries and 44 industries.

“Being recognised as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies highlights Thrivent’s commitment to business ethics and integrity,” said Terry Rasmussen, President and CEO of Thrivent. “Our clients, financial advisors and workforce put their trust in Thrivent because of our ethical culture and it’s one of the reasons we’re able to deliver strong results that help people lead lives of service and faith.”

Erica Salmon Byrne, Ethisphere’s Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Chair said: “It’s always inspiring to recognise the World’s Most Ethical Companies. Through the rigorous review process, we see the dedication of these organizations to continually improving their ethics, compliance, and governance practices to the benefit of all stakeholders. Companies that elevate best-in-class cultures of ethics and integrity set a standard for corporate citizenship for their peers and competitors to follow. Congratulations to Thrivent for achieving this honour and demonstrating that strong ethics is good business.”

Methodology & scoring

Ethisphere is a company which defines and measures corporate ethical standards, recognises companies that excel, and promotes best practices in corporate ethics.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment is grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient®, an extensive questionnaire that requires companies to provide over 240 different proof points on their culture of ethics; environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices; ethics and compliance programme; diversity, equity, & inclusion; and initiatives that support a strong value chain. That data undergoes further qualitative analysis by a panel of experts who spend thousands of hours vetting and evaluating each year’s group of applicants. This process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify truly best-in-class ethics and compliance practices from organisations across industries and from around the world.
