Rob Wesseling, CEO and President of Co-operators (Canada) and incoming ICMIF Chair, to present the new strategy for 2023-26.

ICMIF Board members and member delegates will be called upon to comment on the Report and talk about their own case studies from the report.ย  Member delegates are also welcome to ask questions or comment on the past and future strategies.

This session will also include the 2022 ICMIF General Meeting.

Building a mutual brand

Three ICMIF member organisations will share case studies about how they have each developed a modern mutual/cooperative brand which preserves their original purpose while also articulating the benefits of mutuality and social purpose in a way that is relevant for todayโ€™s customers.ย  The session will also look at marketing strategies that leverage the mutual/cooperative difference and engagement strategies that make membership meaningful in the customer value proposition.

Sustainability as a strategic differentiator for mutual/cooperative insurers

Sustainability has always been part of the DNA of the mutual/cooperative model. However, as the growing market expectations and regulatory requirements are shifting towards all organisations adopting sustainable business practices, how do mutual/cooperatives differentiate themselves through their sustainability strategy and stay ahead of the market?ย  This session will look at practical examples from ICMIF members that have created value through implementing sustainability strategies as part of their strategy to bring to life the mutual/cooperative value proposition across their businesses.ย  The session will also look at how the use of the new ICMIF SDG Calculator can help raise standards and assist members that wish to benchmark themselves against the SDGs as well as the Calculatorโ€™s wider impact on the insurance industry in general.

Session 3

Inclusive resilience through protection and prevention

With its authentic, purpose-driven operating model, the cooperative/mutual insurance sector is uniquely positioned to take a lead in creating a practical path towards inclusive resilience which requires a sharper focus on prevention to complement traditional protection solutions. Through its collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), ICMIF is launching a new benchmarking tool to help member organisations measure themselves against seven mechanisms that set the standards for resilience initiatives and prevention activities that drive greater resilience.ย  This industry leading ICMIF Resilience Benchmark could become the global standard for the entire insurance industry. The session will also include practical examples of new technological innovations and prevention solutions that can help to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
