The ICMIF Asia and Oceania Association (AOA) hosted its 2025 seminar in Seoul, South Korea, from 13–14 November 2025, bringing together member organisations from across the region to share insights, strengthen cooperation, and reaffirm AOA’s commitment to serving its members. The event was hosted by ICMIF member Nonghyup Life.

Established in 1984, the AOA promotes collaboration among cooperative and mutual insurers, fostering friendship and information exchange throughout Asia and Oceania. The seminar’s theme: “To continue being an organisation for the benefit of its members ~ 2025 IYC Reevaluate our purpose” reflects this ongoing mission.

The two-day event featured keynote addresses from Melina Morrison, CEO of the Business Council of Cooperatives and Mutuals (BCCM), and Nick Mingo, Head of Behavioural Economics, Swiss Re, alongside sessions focused on meeting member needs, expanding the association’s reach, and strengthening the value of mutuality and the cooperative model.

Pre-seminar activities on 12 November included a Young Leaders’ Welcome Drink and a Speakers’ Dinner (both by invitation). A Young Leaders Programme also took place on the morning of 14 November, offering emerging professionals an opportunity to engage with senior figures in the sector.

Liz Green, CEO of ICMIF, said: “The AOA seminar is always a valuable opportunity for our members across Asia and Oceania to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another. This year’s theme — continuing to be an organization for the benefit of its members — truly reflects the spirit of cooperation that defines our movement. I wish all participants a successful and inspiring seminar, and I’m confident the discussions in Seoul will help strengthen the bonds that unite us and support the continued growth of the mutual and cooperative sector across the region.”

Through these discussions and exchanges, AOA aims to reaffirm its shared purpose and further strengthen mutual ties among members across the region.
