In a significant step toward environmental stewardship, ICMIF member Unimutual has announced its investment in the planting of 1,000 trees through the Forktree Project, a regenerative initiative aimed at restoring degraded farmland and enhancing biodiversity across South Australia.
This initiative forms a cornerstone of Unimutual’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to sustainability and long-term value creation for its Members and the broader community.
The Forktree Project, known for its science-based approach to ecological restoration, is supported by expert guidance from the University of Adelaide and the Biology Society of South Australia. This collaboration ensures that Unimutual’s contribution is not only impactful but also aligned with best practices in environmental science.
“This investment reflects our broader commitment to championing projects led by, or connected to, the higher education sector,” said Unimutual CEO, Geoff Henderson. “It reinforces the value of collaboration between Mutuals and academic institutions in driving meaningful environmental outcomes.”
The tree planting initiative is expected to contribute to carbon sequestration, habitat restoration, and increased biodiversity in the region. Unimutual plans to share updates on the progress and impact of the partnership as part of its ongoing ESG journey.
