Last month, ICMIF member IPB Insurance (Ireland) welcomed Minister Robert Troy, Minister of State with special responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance, to its office to officially launch the organisation’s Centenary year.

The Minister joined IPB’s Board, Leadership Team and staff for a meet-and-greet, followed by a formal unveiling ceremony to mark this significant milestone. During the event, John Kearns, CEO and John Hogan, Chair of IPB and Minister Troy addressed colleagues, reflecting on the mutual’s proud history and its important role within the Irish insurance market.

Speakers highlighted IPB’s long-standing commitment to serving communities and the public service, and reflected on the journey the organisation has taken over the past 100 years to reach this historic moment. They also acknowledged the dedication and contribution of past and present staff, recognising their central role in IPB’s continued success.

The event marks the beginning of a year-long Centenary programme of activities celebrating IPB’s people, members and partners across national and local government, as well as the social, community and voluntary groups IPB is proud to support.

As IPB celebrates its Centenary, the organisation says it looks forward to sharing further updates and initiatives throughout the year, recognising its heritage while continuing its commitment to serving members and communities for the next 100 years.

IPB has a rich history as Ireland’s only indigenous, 100% Irish-owned general insurance mutual.

Founded in 1926 during the formative years of the State, IPB Insurance says it was built on a simple but powerful principle: that Irish public bodies should protect their own interests and share in the value created. A century later, that ethos remains at the heart of everything IPB does.

After the event, Minister Troy shared his reflections on social media saying: “It was great to mark this milestone alongside John Hogan and John Kearns, and to reflect on the contribution IPB has made to stability, resilience and trust within the public sector insurance market.”
