For the seventh time, ICMIF member Länsförsäkringar has been ranked as the most sustainable brand in the insurance industry, according to the Sustainable Brand Index survey, which examines Swedish consumers’ perceptions of major brands.

“We have geared up our sustainability work in recent years to contribute even more to sustainable and future-proof societies. The fact that consumers are paying attention to this is both gratifying and important to us,” said Kristofer Dreiman, Chief Sustainability Officer at Länsförsäkringar AB.

Since 2011, the Sustainable Brand Index has asked Swedish consumers to rate how sustainable they perceive major brands to be. Länsförsäkringar consistently ranks high in both environmental and social responsibility, reflecting the federation’s long-term commitment to responsible business practices.

In recent years, Länsförsäkringar has strengthened its sustainability initiatives across the organisation, focusing on climate action, social responsibility, and responsible investing.

Highlights include:

  • Expanding investments in companies with scientific climate targets and increasing sustainable bond holdings.
  • Enhancing sustainability requirements for suppliers.
  • Developing circular claims management, including using recycled parts for engine damage repairs and supporting customers to reduce emissions linked to animal care.

“For us, it is important that sustainability permeates the entire offering – from climate adaptation measures in the home, investments and supplier requirements to how damage is prevented and managed. It creates value both for our customers and strengthens society’s resilience at a time when it is needed most,” said Peter Lindvall, CEO of LF Kalmar and Chair of Länsförsäkringar’s sustainability approach.

The 2026 Sustainable Brand Index is Europe’s largest consumer study focused on sustainability. Conducted between December 2025 and February 2026, it surveyed 80,000 people across the Nordic countries and the Netherlands, including around 1,000 responses for Länsförsäkringar. Participants rated brands on environmental responsibility and social responsibility, aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
