Australian ICMIF member RAC WA has announced a new naming rights partnership with the major sports and entertainments venue in Western Australia (WA), the Perth Arena, which will be known as the RAC Arena from 1 September 2018.

Since its opening in November 2012, the Arena has held an average of 80 events per year, including a variety of entertainment from ice events and basketball games to a host of world-famous music acts. Last year, the venue was ranked as #5 in Billboard’s top worldwide venues of its size for ticket sales.

RAC Group CEO, Terry Agnew, said as a membership organisation now representing more than one million members in WA, RAC is proud to expand its support of the iconic venue.

“In 2013 RAC became a Founding Partner of the venue and more recently became a sponsor of the RAC Local Lounge,” Mr Agnew said.

“RAC bstreetsmart, a free road safety re-enactment experienced by more than 30,000 Year 10-12 students, has also been held at the venue every year since 2013.”

RAC bstreetsmart is one of many community programmes run by RAC WA. The programme educates students about the realities of road trauma, by re-enacting a crash scene and hearing from people who have been involved in road trauma. The event aims to demonstrate the consequences of distracted driving, speeding and drink/drug driving and educate students on how to reduce risk taking behaviours.

Terry Agnew continued: “RAC members received more than AUD 45 million in direct member benefits during the past year – the largest savings ever. Through this partnership we aim to continue communicating and engaging with the community about the importance of road safety, and delivering more benefits, experiences and memories for members visiting RAC Arena.

RAC members receive savings on a wide variety of products and services as part of their membership. Discounts are available on travel, fuel, groceries, entertainment, dining and/or RAC products and services. As a Founding Partner of the Arena, RAC are able to offer their members the chance to win tickets to events at the Arena and exclusive discounts on selected shows and experiences. RAC members also have access to a lounge at the Arena which they can enjoy pre-events.

“Having been a close partner since 2013 we’re very excited to announce RAC as our new naming rights partner. RAC is a brand synonymous with excellent member service, and with over a million West Australians being RAC members, it’s a brand we know and trust,” said Michael Scott, General Manager of the Arena.

“After the successful launch of the RAC Local Lounge earlier this year, we’re excited to see where this next level of partnership can take us and the people of Western Australia,” Scott concluded.

“Perth Arena is recognised by promoters, artists and sporting teams as one of the greatest entertainment venues in the world,” said the Australian Minister for Sport and Recreation, Mick Murray. “We are delighted RAC has been able to beat out national competition in securing this deal, making sure the State’s world-class arena is attached to a truly local organisation.”

A major supporter of local jobs and the WA economy, RAC employs more than 1400 people throughout metropolitan and regional Western Australia. The organisation plays a critical role in advocating for better mobility, road safety and transport in Western Australia and supports local jobs in a range of WA industries, including its flagship roadside assistance service, travel, tourism, insurance, security and auto services.
