Reale Group (Italy) has announced the acquisition of an 80% stake in Lifenet Healthcare, a leading Italian group operating hospitals, surgical centres, diagnostic clinics, and eye and dental clinics.
The transaction, carried out through Reale Services S.r.l., marks a strategic step in Reale Group’s plan to create a person-centred health ecosystem, extending beyond traditional insurance coverage to provide care across the full healthcare chain. The deal was agreed with Lifenet founder and Managing Director Nicola Bedin, who will retain a 20% share and continue to lead the company, ensuring management continuity and strategic alignment.
Founded in 2018, Lifenet Healthcare now operates in five Italian regions with 16 outpatient and diagnostic centres, six hospitals, and four eye clinics. In 2026, the group is expected to generate revenues of over €450 million, with more than 1,100 beds and approximately 5,000 employees.
Through this acquisition, Reale Group says it aims to:
- Strengthen leadership in care and protection in Italy.
- Accelerate diversification into a full health ecosystem.
- Promote a model centred on individuals, aligned with Public-Private-Community collaboration and the UN Sustainable Development Goal 17.
Luca Filippone, General Manager of Reale Group, said: “With this transaction, Reale Group is redefining the concept of ‘caring’, moving from insurance protection to a concrete presence throughout the chain of care. Our growing commitment to a person-centred health ecosystem strengthens our positioning and fully embodies the Group’s purpose: Taking care of people for a better world, together.”
Nicola Bedin, founder and Managing Director of Lifenet, added: “Reale Group is the ideal partner for Lifenet thanks to its long-term vision, sustainable approach, innovative mindset, and deep industry knowledge. I’m excited about this new phase of development, founded on a solid basis of shared values.”
The acquisition is expected to complete in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
This transaction also coincides with Reale Mutua Assicurazione recently joining ICMIF, reinforcing the Federation’s global network with a member that is advancing innovative, purpose-driven healthcare initiatives.
