ICMIF Supporting Member Swiss Re has been awarded the Silver status in Stonewall’s Global Workplace Equality Index. Stonewall’s Top Global Employers list recognises organisations for their efforts and commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive environments for their LGBTI+* employees. Swiss Re says it embraces and is building a diverse workforce that brings together the best of multiple generations, cultures, skillsets and thinking. Recognising that every individual is unique is a key part of creating a truly inclusive environment where diversity is valued and celebrated. Swiss Re believes it can only unleash the true potential of its people if they are respected and feel included for who they are – this is key to Swiss Re’s business success.

“Being acknowledged in Stonewall’s Global Workplace Equality Index is a huge honour. It’s a great confirmation of what we’re already getting right and also offers insights into where we can improve. Many thanks to all those who are so actively engaged in all the important LGBTI+ initiatives that take place globally across Swiss Re.” says Aidan McCormack, Head DEI, Swiss Re.

Swiss Re says inclusion is at the centre of their refreshed DEI strategy and unlocks the power of diversity. Being awarded Silver status in Stonewall’s Global Workplace Equality Index (GWEI) means they have earned a place among Top Global Employers – this highlights the momentum that has already been created for LGBTI+ inclusion at Swiss Re. They are extremely happy and proud that the great work done over the last years by many colleagues has been so publicly acknowledged; particularly with the engagement of many passionate individuals in Together with Pride.

“We’ve achieved a great deal for Swiss Re and our LGBTI+ staff so far, these efforts have undoubtedly been strengthened through our active LGBTI+ activities and networks. The Stonewall award is testimony to our progress and something we can be really proud of – and it provides an exciting basis for continuing the great work.” Craig Duncan, Global Head TwP Together with Pride.

Participating in Stonewall’s Global Workplace Equality Index (GWEI) shows Swiss Re’s commitment to the UN Standards of Conduct for business which tackles discrimination against LGBTI+ people. Swiss Re says: “The GWEI helps us to assess our progress on LGBTI+ inclusion globally and to compare our performance with other global organisations. It provides us with a clear and rigorous action plan for global LGBTI+ inclusion work. Each entrant demonstrates their organisation’s performance against a set of best-practice criteria accompanied by supporting evidence. The criteria cover different areas of employment policy and practice, examining both global working structures and operational country activity.”
