Europe’s influence on Global Data Protection Regulations and the impact on cooperative/mutual insurers around the world

With the recent enactment of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data security and privacy issues have been escalated to the forefront of political agendas around the world. Regional and national laws are being rewritten to come into closer alignment with the GDPR and its core concepts around data use and protection. This growing international legislative landscape will have direct repercussions on carriers, their vendors and insureds/members.

This webinar examines the role that the EU has played in moving the discussion around data protection and security globally. It delves into the impact the GDPR is having on other regions including Asia-Pacific, the Americas and the Middle-East and Africa and how numerous countries in those regions are moving their own national laws into line with the concepts behind the EU regulation. Finally, it looks at how this global shift brings about both challenges and opportunities for mutual and cooperative insurance organizations as well as the best ways of moving forward.
