UNDP–ICMIF Insurance Innovation Challenge: progress and insights from project partners

This virtual session will provide updates from the four projects currently supported by the UNDP–ICMIF Insurance Innovation Challenge (IIC), a joint initiative between the UNDP’s Insurance & Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) and The ICMIF Foundation.

Launched at the ICMIF Centenary Conference in Rome, the IIC is a public–private partnership aimed at expanding inclusive insurance in emerging and developing markets. By providing matched funding between ICMIF members and UNDP IRFF, the IIC supports mutual and cooperative insurers to scale innovative, affordable products that serve underserved households and and/or micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with a particular focus on women.

In this session, each of the four IIC project partners from the first round will share a short update on their progress, followed by a Q&A session with attendees. This is a great opportunity to hear first-hand how these projects are advancing and contributing to inclusive growth and resilience in their communities.

Speakers:

  • Michael Mugo, Principal Officer, CIC Microinsurance (CIC Kenya)
  • Zachary Wambugu, Managing Director, Cooperative Life Assurance Ltd (CIC Malawi)
  • Jun Jay Perez, Executive Director, MiMAP (Philippines)
  • Savitha Herath, Senior Manager – Human Resources Development, Sanasa Life Insurance Co. Ltd (Sri Lanka)
