In this blog article, ICMIF member Unipol Assicurazioni (Italy) looks back on its presence as a sponsor of the Social Innovation Campus 2026, which took place on 25- 27 February 2026 at MIND in Milan. The event was an opportunity for Unipol to engage with young people on issues that matter to them, from strengthening financial skills to understanding pensions.
The future is something that must be built through sustainable and informed choices. This is the guiding principle behind Unipol Assicurazioni’s presence as a sponsor of the Social Innovation Campus 2026, which took place on 25- 27 February 2026 at MIND in Milan. The event offered young people the opportunity to engage with themes that are increasingly decisive for their future.
During the Campus, the focus was on financial planning, pensions, economic security, and sustainability—areas that are not only about numbers or technical tools, but about the ability to design one’s own path with responsibility and confidence. Providing tools to guide personal choices means helping new generations transform aspirations and values into concrete plans, building a more solid foundation for the future.
Today, talking about security means talking about the future: not only defending oneself from risks, but developing the ability to build well-being through planning and sustainability in one’s life. This is a challenge that concerns young people above all, and it lies at the heart of the Social Innovation Campus 2026. Thanks to the collaboration with Fondazione Triulza, the event represented a privileged space in which to address, together with young people, the decisive issues shaping their future. As the Unipol Group, we strongly believe in this journey and are committed to providing concrete contributions in terms of culture, awareness, and tools for future security.
Pensions are one of the areas in which awareness remains limited. Many young people have only a superficial understanding of what it means to build long‑term protection, and data shows that fewer than one in four young people today participate in supplementary pension schemes, while 43% say they do not know what these schemes are. This gap risks widening in the coming years, particularly as the world of work continues to change rapidly and career paths become less linear, requiring new forms of protection and autonomy.
For this reason, the Unipol Group believes it is essential to promote financial education in a way that is accessible, simple, and closely aligned with the real needs of young people. There is a strong and conscious demand for training: nearly 70% of young people would like to strengthen their financial skills. Knowing how to navigate economic choices, understanding the value of saving, and grasping the mechanisms of supplementary pensions are not merely technical skills; they are forms of security. They enable young people to recognise that the future can be designed, not just awaited. Our commitment is to offer transparent, understandable, and consistent tools, capable of turning even small choices into concrete long-term investments.
In this journey, sustainability can be a powerful lever. Younger generations already show strong attention to environmental and social issues; transforming this sensitivity into economic awareness means guiding them towards responsible decisions that are consistent with their values and oriented towards the future. Sustainable pensions are not only an ethical alternative, but also a way to strengthen trust, responsibility, and active participation in shaping one’s future.
The Social Innovation Campus offered a valuable space in which to work on these themes. Through workshops, hackathons, discussions and social innovation activities, young people had the opportunity to approach complex concepts in a practical way, understand how economic security and sustainability intersect, and build a more solid vision of their life paths. The Unipol Group and the Unipol Regional Councils (CRU) want to be present in these spaces because we believe that building the future is not an individual exercise, but a collective commitment that brings together companies, institutions, communities, and territories. Supporting young people in understanding pensions means helping them gain freedom: the freedom to choose, to plan, to grow with confidence.
Unipol Assicurazioni’s contribution to the Social Innovation Campus 2026
Unipol Assicurazioni played a leading role at the Social Innovation Campus with concrete moments of dialogue and participation within the Cultural Programme, dedicated to the themes of the future, informed choices and the tools that help young people find their way.
Unipol also proposed a challenge within the in‑person hackathon, which was unveiled during the Opening Event on 25 February and presented to the participating teams.
In addition, Unipol took the stage with a talk themed “Back to the future” on 25 February, which was curated in collaboration with Pandora Social Cooperative.
