Argentinian ICMIF members Grupo Asegurador La Segunda, Río Uruguay Seguros (RUS), San Cristóbal Seguros and Seguros Rivadavia have each been recognised in the annual national competition to combat fraud in the insurance industry CESVI ARGENTINA, the Centre for Experimentation and Road Safety.

CESVI ARGENTINA is a company dedicated to research, experimentation and analysis of road and automotive safety. For 23 years, it has been investigating serious accidents and studying their causes in addition to evaluating the safety of cars and roads in the country. All this technical knowledge, added to the theoretical knowledge, is used in advanced level driver training and in driver education programmes for children and adolescents.

In addition, CESVI ARGENTINA contributes to Argentinian society by publishing the results of the investigations carried out. As a contribution to the insurance market, CESVI ARGENTINA develops claims management systems that allow the optimisation of the processes and subsequent results of insurance companies, in addition to detecting indicators of possible fraud that can lead to significant savings for the company.

CESVI ARGENTINA is supported by a number of insurers in the country (ICMIF members shown in bold): Grupo Asegurador La Segunda, MAPFRE, Río Uruguay Seguros, Sancor Seguros, San Cristóbal Seguros, Seguros Rivadavia, SURA and Zurich.

Last week CESVI ARGENTINA held the awards ceremony (online) of the National Contest to Fight Fraud. The event recognises the work of insurers in the prevention and detection of fraud and awards are given in the following categories:
A) Automotive, B) Other product lines and C) Subscription or no claim.

This year the case studies from both 2019 and 2020 in the above categories were considered as part of the judging. The criteria for evaluating the competitors were: the ingenuity demonstrated to resolve the case, the rigor in the investigation, the importance of the evidence obtained, the economic and social impact, the cooperation of companies involved in the case, the complaints made before the courts or other control bodies and the improvements in the procedures to prevent future attempts at fraud.

Soon, the first place winners in each category will participate in the XIV International Congress on Insurance Fraud.

ICMIF members feature in every category of winning case studies as follows:
