ICMIF update for members regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

21 March 2020

During uncertain times, the mutual and cooperative insurance sector has always stepped up to respond to the needs of its members and their communities. Here at ICMIF we believe it is important that we too step up to follow those principles now as we all confront the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The entire ICMIF team are now working from their homes but we remain fully functional and are working hard to help and support our members in this great time of need. We are stepping up our efforts to provide information on what members are doing through our news stories and also to provide inspirational case studies and best practice via our ICMIF Webinar series.

Faced with the current Coronavirus situation, our principal concern at ICMIF in relation to our events is for the welfare of our members, speakers, hosts and our staff . If members have registered or are thinking of registering for an ICMIF event soon, please click on the event page (which can be accessed via the EVENTS AND LEARNING tab above) to get the very latest information about specific events.

The pandemic has impacted our planned schedule of face to face events for 2020 as follows (as of 31 March 2020):

Advanced Management Course (Manchester) – May 2020

  • This event has been postponed until May 2021. More information and alternative dates can be found here.

Meeting of Reinsurance Officials (Helsinki) – June 2020

  • This event has been postponed until June 2021. More information can be found here.

ICMIF Sustainable Investment Leaders Workshop

  • This event has been postponed. More information to follow.

If members are interested in attending an ICMIF event later this year our current advice is to register for the event to be sure of a place as numbers may be limited. We will keep registered delegates informed if there are any changes to any of our events. We would strongly advise, however, that people wait to book travel in case we are forced to cancel or postpone the event. Our aim will be to postpone events wherever possible.

If members have any questions or concerns regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact our Events Team.

ICMIF members have exclusive access to virtual learning through our webinars. A number of these are planned for the forthcoming months and are a good source of information on key topics for the mutual/cooperative insurance sector.

We have cancelled all unnecessary staff travel at the moment to safeguard the health and safety of our employees and of our member organisations.  This decision is based on recommendations provided by the World Health Organisation and will be re-evaluated as conditions change.

ICMIF is committed to supporting our members as we all find our way through this challenging period.  While we may not be able to be present physically in the near term, we will continue to communicate with members via virtual means and provide news, support and learning that way. If members have any news stories or press releases on how their organisation is helping members please send them to our Communications Manager Alison Grant and, where possible, we can share them via our news stories and/or social media and hopefully provide other members with inspiration and best practice.

For member-only strategic content on the cooperative/mutual insurance sector, ICMIF members have exclusive access to a range of online resources through the ICMIF Knowledge Hub.
