Paraguayan ICMIF member Panal Seguros is now offering a remote, video assessment of motor vehicles for both new insurance policies and renewals. Inspections of customers’ vehicles can now be carried out via a video-operating system on smartphones.

The mutual insurer has launched this new innovation to provide customers with enhanced service and customer experience without losing any quality or reliability as part of the process of taking out or renewing a policy for their vehicle.

With this application of video-operational systems to the underwriting process, Panal Seguros is the first insurance company in Paraguay to offer this innovative tool. The service consists of carrying out a remote inspection, in real time, of the vehicles that are in the process of taking out an insurance policy.

‘The project was born with the idea of giving practical resources to policyholders, especially in times of great uncertainty such as those we live in today’, says CEO Martin Pineda.

This tool’s software also allows direct video calls to the customer’s mobile phone as well as capturing photographs of the expert’s appraisal, essential for the handling of the policy and any subsequent claim. For greater security, communications are encrypted, and the video call may also be recorded for subsequent reviews and/or consultations.

The service will be much faster for customers, so the management of the new/renewed policy will also be more agile, and the costs will be lower, Pineda added.

So, how does it work?

Without having to download any application, the customer is contacted by an expert who schedules a virtual appointment to carry out the session. A link then enables the client to be connected to the expert through 3G and 4G networks, regardless of the mobile phone operating company.

Panal Seguros says that a process of digital transformation occupies centre stage at the mutual as it is key to providing more useful services to clients. Recent digital tools offered to members include online quotations, web-based claim forms and the customer area on the website on which management of members’ policies and claims can be carried out, all of which are available from the Panal Seguros website.

For member-only strategic content on the cooperative/mutual insurance sector, ICMIF members have exclusive access to a range of online resources through the ICMIF Knowledge Hub.
